The New Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

The New Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - The Unthinkable Has Happened

You hear that?

It is the sound of a new level of performance. It is a sound never heard on any Corvette – ever.

It is the sound of a new generation of ZR-1.

The next Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 is coming soon. What was unthinkable is now a reality.

The eighth-generation Corvette has been raised to a new level. Some say it will have the performance of a hypercar. Never before has that term been used in the history of the Corvette.

The new LT7 engine was unthinkable. The mid-engine mounted 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged DOHC flat-plane crank V8 is where the reality begins. This new engine produces 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 RPM. It also puts down 828 pound-feet of torque at 6,000 RPM.

These numbers are real. It is a new benchmark in the seven-decade history of the Corvette. In fact, this is the most powerful V8 engine ever produced in America by an automotive manufacturer.

The results of what this engine can yield are unthinkable. On the racetrack, it can go a GM-estimated top speed of over 215 MPH. GM estimated a sub-10-second time running the quarter mile on the drag strip.

How do you distinguish a ZR1 from any other Corvette? The ZR1 adds a purposeful carbon fiber aerodynamic package from the front splitter to the rear spoiler. Combined, this package creates over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed.

Another distinction is a nod to the past. In 1963, the second-generation Corvette shaped a distinctive design element on its Sting Ray coupe – the split rear window. Two panes of glass meeting in the middle of the fastback was something special back then.

It is back. The ZR1 now wears a split rear window above its engine compartment. Both ”windows” meet at a center carbon fiber spine. You can opt to have that spine exposed with the carbon fiber finish or to have it match the paint color.

All of this was once considered unthinkable. It took over seven decades to get to this point. We hope you’re ready to experience the unthinkable.
